Cutimed® Sorbion® Sana

is a sterile, hydroactive, gel-forming, superabsorbent wound dressing. The atraumatic dressing consists of a strong water-retaining superabsorbent core, an in-between layer of hypoallergenic polypropylene and an outer wound contact layer made of polyethylene film with three-dimensional perforations.

Intended Purpose

Indications: Cutimed Sorbion Sana is intended for the treatment of wounds with low to excessive exudate levels, such as decubitus ulcers, ulcus cruris, diabetic foot ulcers and other and other wounds healing through secondary intention, dehisced wounds, as well as after burns, on donor sites and fragile skin, epidermolysis bullosa (EB) and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS).

Wear time: Cutimed Sorbion Sana can remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on wound conditions and saturation of the wound dressing. It is recommended to change the dressing every 24 hours initially, moving to less frequent changes as necessary. A completely soaked dressing must always be avoided.

Atraumatic dressing change

Due to its 3-D structure and smooth surface the outer wound contact layer facilitates the fluid flow in the direction of the dressing, while offering few points of access for ingrowing tissue. This provides a protective layer against adherence to the wound bed2.

How to use

1. Before applying the dressing disinfect hands and use gloves.
2. If necessary, irrigate the wound and remove leftover cleansing solution afterwards.
3. Select a suitable dressing size, so that the absorbent inner core overlaps the wound margins by at least 1 cm/0.4-inch. When taking the product out of the pouch, do not touch the wound pad.
4. Apply the dressing towards the wound. Both sides of the dressing can be applied to the wound.
5. Secure the dressing after selecting an appropriate fixation for the condition of the wound surroundings and the skin. Films, medical tapes, bandages, or any other suitable fixation dressing can be used. While fixating the dressing, take expansion during absorption into consideration.
How to remove
To remove Cutimed Sorbion Sana remove fixation tapes, lift one corner of Cutimed Sorbion Sana, gently remove the dressing and discard. Adherence of wound deposits to Cutimed Sorbion Sana is a desirable effect, contributing to wound cleansing (soft debridement).
